One Evening in the DesertDown the desolate desert highway we drove like two hopeless teenage romantics out of a James Dean film... we were finally free. The desperate world we were to leave behind would be nothing better, nothing worse. It would remain practically oblivious to our absence - perhaps to our very existence - as it always had. So it would remain black and debauched with greed, violence, and destruction. So it would remain. The road ahead, however, bore a sacred innocence unscathed by the wrath of mankind.
